4Diskclean only deletes the files that appear on the grid after the search if you hit delete button. Mark all the file extensions you desire to clean by clicking on the small hand on right top, hit search and view files found on the grid, customize the list by clicking on delete? Column (yes - delete, no - not delete file, On duplicate find screen, default of all files found is NO, click the column to mark to deletion a file), after hit delete button.4Diskclean have a internal list of all important files for every Windows pc to work properly, and it wont allow delete any of these files.
An important reference before you start to clean up your disks, is the options menu. You may select if you desire delete files from disk or to recycle bin. The default setting is recycle bin, wich means you can recover any deleted file by open recycle bin and recovering it by right mouse clicking the file. After using 4Diskclean a little you will see how it works safe and fell comfortable to not use recycle bin, so you wont need to clean recycle often.
Other option is make ZIP files of the excluded files, by checking "make zip" on the main screen and dupes screen, default is not make.
4Diskclean is capable of clean up your browser cache and history
with a button click for both Netscape and Internet Explorer).
Internet Explorer users:
History and Cache clean buttons in 4Diskclean performs the same as you hit clean cache or history button in Internet Explorer. All files will be eliminated from disk, even if you mark in options menu to send deleted files to recycle bin (as Internet Explorer works).
Hit Options->set folders to view and change (if not detected or detected in error) the detect folders to be cleaned in your PC.
First time you open 4Diskclean and press any clean up button it will read your files and folders and auto detect the principal folders used to store data (recycle bin, caches, history, etc.) after these folders are all stored in config.txt file and next time you click a button 4Diskclean is able to perform the selected operation without reading it again.
Users can view or even change these folders if necessary just by clicking menu Options->set folders and just changing the path of these folders. For example: if you change some of the default Windows folders, user can change it to the new path (if you change a system folder using the correct Windows methods for changing it, 4Diskclean will auto detect it also).
For multiple drives, one line entry will be placed on config.txt for required system folders found by 4Diskclean on that drive, only changing the drive letter on the third character.
4Diskclean searches for history, caches, recycle bin folders by Windows folders attributes, so no matter the idiom you use, 4Diskclean will find the appropriated folders.
